On Saturday we took a leisurely stroll around Fairburn Ings.
Unfortunately we didn’t manage to complete the trails as Holly wasn’t feeling to well and she just wanted to be carried most of the time. So after we had been walking for an hour or more, which involved climbing trees, jumping off of rocks, popping into hides and just genuinely enjoying the views we returned to the visitors centre where we had a drink and a spot of lunch.
After lunch we had planned on doing the next trail which was shorter, but unfortunately the weather wasn’t keen on letting us. So instead we opted to let the girls explore the wildlife garden and Willow discovery area as it was located between the Visitors Centre and the car park.
Ella and Holly were both very pleased with this decision and made the most of their time there.
They played on the wooden drum set, climbed in and on wooden sculptures, looked for bugs, climbed the tree house and built a den.
And then when they were done we headed off to feed the ducks.
Which was in vain as they simply weren’t hungry, much to the distress of poor Holly.
After one more trip to the the toilets we packed the kiddies in the car and headed for home.
